The glass is indeed half full

A difficult weekend and a race that in the end rewarded us with a second place that tastes... oh, so sweet! If I must give an answer to the usual question, I would say without a doubt that the glass is indeed half full, in fact, even more.

Pecco raced well, he pitched-in so much of his grit and, for me, this result is most significant. He fought like a real champion even though our performance was not what we would have hoped for: a very complicated weekend made worse by the weather conditions, and our continuous search for a better set-up.

One has to be strong and honed-in even when things don't turn out the best way, and Pecco certainly was. Yes, I really liked his race, he dominated it from the start and then he was able to intelligently resist and defend his position when the opponents became more insidious; he gave everything, also taking the risk of riding in the lead in difficult and changing conditions with the rain closing in. So, we have increased our lead in the standings and today this is what counts.

This does not mean that it isn’t frustrating to be overtaken just a few corners from the line: congratulations to our opponents, always very competitive on this track, with a truly inspired rider. A success they deserve for the meaningful work they are doing.

My thoughts are also for Alex Marquez and for his first success in MotoGP, albeit in the Sprint Race, stopped only by a mechanical problem while also protagonist in the long race: the determination and talent put on the line should have deserved better luck. Then, how can we not mention the infinite Bezzecchi and his umpteenth demonstration of speed and obstinacy, betrayed perhaps by his innate competitiveness after another splendid pole scored in wet conditions, showing the assurance of a true veteran.

Therefore, we and our fans learn once more that nothing is easy, and even less to be taken for granted. Today we have earned and are savouring this podium, but we are already focussed and rearing to go towards getting the most out of the next GPs. Come on, Ducati!
