Two strikers at Misano for Barni Racing Team in WorldSBK

Barni Racing Team will redouble the effort for the Misano Adriatico race of MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship, planned on 21st-23rd June 2019, with two riders riding the Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Michele Pirro will join Michael Rinaldi, as a wild card. For the first time in his history Barni Racing Team will have two riders in his box in Superbike World Championship. It will be a big effort for the team led by Marco Barnabò, but also an exciting challenge in WorldSBK for a team which proved a great growth in terms of results and commitment, since its debut in 2015.

The idea to be on the grid with a second Ducati Panigale V4 R was born from the collaboration with companies which believe in Barni Racing Team, and this cooperation allows the team to lining up a valued and experienced rider as Michele Pirro not only in the Italian Championship but also in the WorldSBK.

Since 2015 the rider from San Giovanni Rotondo, Ducati MotoGP test rider, dominates in the Italian Superbike Championship with the team from Calvenzano. Pirro already experienced the World Superbike Championship riding a Ducati Panigale R in 2013, at Magny-Cours, in 2015 at Misano and at Jerez. He achieved a sixth place as best result.

Marco Barnabò - Team Principal

"Be able to put on grid the second bike in WorldSBK is a great satisfaction. The agreement with Michele Pirro for a wild card at Misano World Circuit is the end of a long journey begun some years ago in the Italian Championship. I’m really proud of this. We will be forced to double the effort, but thanks to this our home race will be even more special for us and for our supporters. Anything could be possible without the willingness of Ducati, without the support of sponsors and our partner Gianbo, who worked close to me on this projects. I would like to thank all who believed in our idea, as well my staff that daily supports me".

Michele Pirro #51

"After many years full of success in CIV, the italian national Championship, I am very happy with the opportunity that the Barni Racing Team was able to create allowing me to be on track in a very competitive and prestigious Championship as WorldSBK is. "Barni" did everything he could to make this adventure possible, I would like to thank him and all those who believed in this project: sponsors and Ducati who gave me the chance to race. The Ducati Panigale V4 R proved to have great potential and I will try to give my contribution to improve the bike, giving the maximum both on the track and in the work with mechanics. It will be not an easy race because the level of riders is very high, but my goal is to get the best possible result".
