Chaz Davies

Chaz Davies was born in Knighton, Wales on 10 February 1987 and began his racing career at the age of 8, making his debut in the British Minibike Championship. His talent was obvious from the start, finishing 5th in his first year and winning the next two seasons. He then moved on to the Super Teen Challenge trophy, where he finished 2nd in 2000. The following year, in addition to competing in the British 125cc championship with a family-run team, he entered the world championship with the Matteoni Racing team. He then moved up to the 250cc class in 2003, where he remained until 2006, unable to achieve any significant results.

In the three-year period 2007-2009 he competed in the American AMA championship, where he won the prestigious 200-mile Daytona race in 2008. Taking advantage of the fact that the AMA season finished earlier than the European championship, in 2007 he debuted in MotoGP with the Pramac D'Antin Ducati team riding in three races, while in 2009 he took part in some rounds of the Supersport world championship with the ParkinGO BE1 team. With the Italian team Davies finished fourth in 2010 and then won the world championship in 2011.

The following season saw Chaz and his team improve their position in the Superbike world championship where the Welshman won a race and was awarded rookie of the year thanks to his 9th place overall in the standings. The good results earned him an official bike for the 2013 season, the year when Chaz finished the season in fifth place, managing to make it to the top step of the podium three times.

In 2014 Ducati returned to the Superbike championship and Chaz Davies was one of the two riders selected to ride the official 1199 Panigale. In his first year with Ducati he finished sixth in the championship, showing the growing competitiveness of the Panigale SBK. In fact, the following season he won his first race at Aragon, followed by other victories in Laguna Seca (double win), Sepang and Jerez, successes that earned him 2nd place in the final standings. In 2016 he finished third, taking the Ducati official team to the top step of the podium 11 times and dominating the last six races of the season. In 2017 Davies confirmed his winning ways by regaining the sceptre of vice world champion and triumphing in 7 races, reconfirming his role as vice champion again at the end of the subsequent season.

In 2019 the Welsh rider raced on the Panigale V4 R, earning a spot on the podium at the difficult track of Laguna Seca, closing the world season in sixth place after showing great improvement in the final races. In 2020 Chaz Davies will be a member of the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team for the sixth consecutive year (seventh on a Ducati Superbike), remaining one of the most popular riders with the fans of Borgo Panigale.
