Monster

Introduced on October 2, 1992 at the Cologne International Fair, the Monster is the longest-lived model produced by the Borgo Panigale.

Even from its first appearance at the "International Motorcycle Show" in Cologne in 1992, the Monster has stood out for its character, originality and innovation. Strange, essential, rebellious and outside the box: it took little for this concept to become a true icon, capable of setting trends and generating a new market segment.

To become a masterpiece of visual minimalism, it was abandoned everything superfluous: "All you need are: saddle, tank, engine, two wheels and handlebars," explains Miguel Galluzzi, designer of the Monster. Elements previously considered purely functional (engine block, frame, etc.) have been elevated to the status of "form functional," simply for the sake of being put on display.

One of the most imitated motorcycles of all time, the Monster has spawned entire legions of imitators-though…after all, imitation is still the highest form of admiration.

The Monster is naked by choice and not as a matter of costume; although the motorcycles have been naked for decades, it took the intentionality of Galluzzi's "discovery" to make the bike truly naked.

The story begins at the Cologne Motor Show in the fall of 1992. Amid the many novelties populating the stands appears a mysterious Ducati prototype: it is the Monster 900. A prototype destined to go right into the history of world motorcycling. Monstrously beautiful, it is a cocktail of exquisitely Ducati components: on a 851/888 series Trellis Frame of tubes it mounts the 904 cc Pompone of Supersport origin air/oil-cooled.

With its determined, unabashedly naked personality, this motorcycle has revolutionized, giving it fame and prestige, the "naked" category, until then unknown in the West.

Thus was born the school of the Monster, followed by many clones without personality.

Since that day, the Monster has known a history of great success, has become a family, has seen countless special versions and has evolved every year without losing an ounce of its monstrous identity. But above all, it has infected thousands of motorcyclists all over the world, turning them into monsterists": to date, more than 250,000 examples have come off the lines of Borgo Panigale.

Monster is pure motorcycle emotion, the essence of the spirit of two wheels; Monster is a way of life.
