Discover moreAn October full of events for Ducati's history that begins on Friday, October 4, with the “Open Doors to Citizenship” initiative dedicated to all citizens of Bologna. An unmissable opportunity to discover up close the beating heart of the legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer, where past, present and future intertwine in a story of passion and innovation.
The event has been created to commemorate the discovery of the foundation stone of the Ducati factory in Borgo Panigale, discovered in April this year. The stone, now on display in the Ducati Museum, was laid by the founders, the brothers Adriano, Bruno and Marcello Cavalieri Ducati on 1 June 1935, in the same place where, even today, Ducati designs and produces its motorcycles appreciated throughout the world.
The stone represents a precious historical relic and a tangible symbol of the long and prestigious tradition of the Company, underlining the deep roots that, for almost a century, have inextricably linked the motorcycle manufacturer to the to the Bologna area, the Borgo Panigale district and to the community that has accompanied and supported its success over time.
As a demonstration of the reciprocal bond, on the day of San Petronio on Friday 4 October - the patron saint of Bologna - the Ducati Museum will welcome residents of the Metropolitan Cityfree of charge, with opening hours from 9:00 to 18:00. To make the day even more extraordinary, there will be the Curator of the Ducati Museum Livio Lodi, expert and history enthusiast, with whom visitors will be able to delve into the almost century-old history of the brand, exploring the values, the heritage and the iconic motorcycles that have made Ducati a symbol of global excellence.
Just a few weeks after this activity, Ducati will be present with a special exhibition at the 41st edition of “Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2024”: the international event dedicated to vintage two- and four-wheeled vehicles that takes place in Bologna, from October 24 to 27.
Within the spaces dedicated to Motor Valley and its prestigious brands (Pavilion 31), Ducati willexhibit some models of the legendary 916 family, which this year celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. Considered the emblem of beauty applied to two wheels, the Ducati 916, represents, together with its direct descendants, the most successful family of classic superbikes ever, with an impressive list of 121 victories, 8 World Constructors' Titles and 6 World Riders' Titles in WorldSBK.
In the exhibition, special attention will be given to the racing versions, which tell the extraordinary success story of this iconic dynasty from 1994 to 2002. Among the models on display, visitors will be able to admire the bikes that established Carl Fogarty as the most successful Ducati rider, with four world championships won in 1994, 1995, 1998 and 1999. Beside them will be Troy Corser's 916 from 1996 and Troy Bayliss's 998 from 2001, both models that further strengthened Ducati's reputation on the Superbike scene.
