For the 2010 season, Ducati brought the Desmosedici GP10. The bike was constructed around the engine, which served as a load-bearing element of the chassis, and flaunted a carbon fibre monocoque frame.

Clearly different from the other bikes on the grid, the GP10 stood out even more when, mid-season, two innovative aerodynamic appendages appeared on the fairings. Aboard his number 69 bike, Nicky Hayden scored a fantastic third-place finish at the Aragón GP and placed seventh in the final standings with 163 points.

Casey Stoner amassed a total of three race wins and six podiums during his final season as a factory Ducati rider. These results meant that his final tally with the official team came to a record twenty-three wins in just four years.
