The road leads to a harbour that slowly comes to life, to a still morning sea, to houses overlooking one another, illuminated by a low sun. The motorcycle remains there, part of the scene, ready to set off again. And what has been experienced while moving continues even when standing still, simply at a different pace.
An outdoor table. A coffee. A boat returning. Someone opening a window.
Nothing extraordinary. And that is exactly what makes it special.
In summer, time seems to move differently. Days are longer, shadows sharper. Squares slowly fill with life and the doors of houses remain open. On balconies, laundry gently moves in the breeze, while in small harbours boats seem to wait without hurry.
There are afternoons when a road along the coast invites you to keep going, following every curve, and others when an unexpected glimpse is enough to make you slow down and stop for a few minutes. The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour embraces both moments with the same natural ease: while riding and while stopping, in the pleasure of crossing a place and truly experiencing it.
Always present, always ready to set off again. The most direct, intense and authentic way to experience every kilometre and everything that each kilometre makes possible.
Because stopping does not mean stopping the journey.
We set off again. The sea vanishes around the bend. Blue gives way to green and the light fractures between the trees. This is one of the simplest pleasures of riding: watching the landscape change, and not through a window but immersed in it.
The air becomes cooler. The scent of greenery fills the air. The bends follow the contours of the mountain, and for a while, there is nothing but the road and the scenery around it.
The Multistrada V4 Grand Tour crosses these landscapes naturally, allowing the setting to dictate the pace. Sometimes fast. Sometimes slow. Sometimes slow enough for us to spot something and decide to go back.
There are roads we choose on the map. And others we choose simply because they appear to lead somewhere. In the Tuscan hills, the road appears and disappears as it traces the terrain. It runs through fields baked by the sun, climbs towards a crop of cypress trees and passes alongside an isolated house before vanishing over the other side of the hill. From a distance, bike and road seem almost like two brushstrokes across the landscape.
Here, we don’t need to know exactly where it leads. For once, it’s enough simply to follow it.
Because the journey is not just about the places we’ve decided to visit.
It is also about the places we never planned to stop and see.
A door left ajar. Geraniums on a balcony. A row of lemon trees. The cool stone of a shady street.
A small restaurant overlooking the water. A boat passing by as lunch is served.
Every place has its own language of colours, sounds, materials, gestures. To truly know it, you need to give it time. And perhaps this is one of the greatest privileges of traveling: to finally have time to look. Not just at the scenery we set out to see, but all that lives in and around it. Images that cannot be found on a map.
But that are, in the end, what really tells us about a place.
And every time we get back on the bike, the world races by again. The road opens ahead of us, crossing a forest, tracing the water, climbing towards a town that, from afar, seemed nothing more than a patch of stone on the hill.
Then comes another bend. And beyond that bend, who knows? This is what sets a journey apart from simply travelling from one place to another. Not knowing exactly what we’ll see but knowing we can carry on.
The Multistrada V4 Grand Tour is born for this space, between what we imagined before we set off and what we then find along the way. A discrete presence when we stop.
The companion that carries you further when you’re ready to continue the journey.
The light begins to change. As the sun sets against the facades, the water takes on the colours of the houses, and shadows lengthen in the piazzas. The temperature drops at last.
Villages begin to fill up again, tables are set and boats make their way back to the harbour. The journey also seems to slow. Our helmet can rest there for a while. Our jacket on a chair. The bike just over there.
Tomorrow will bring another road. But we don’t need to know which road right now.
At the end of a trip, we rarely remember it all. Some roads vanish. We mix up the miles. Even place names can become a little fuzzy. What does remain are the surprisingly small details. The light on the water. The early morning noise in a piazza. The shadow of a tree on the asphalt. The colour of a house. A table overlooking the lake. A road spotted from afar and the curiosity to see where it might lead.
Perhaps this is why we travel: to discover moments we weren't looking for.
And to always have the freedom to embrace whatever comes next.
The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is everything you need to experience every journey to the fullest, with a complete equipment package and an exclusive new livery. Because beauty is also found in everything you encounter along the way.
