Iceland 2024: Without Borders

Dino Rovagnani– Multistrada V4 Voyagers 2025 Contest Participant

Finally, in 2024, I made my dream come true: traveling through Iceland by motorcycle.

It was 11,000 km of pure emotion: just me, my Multistrada V4, and my tent. I rode for 42 days, burning over 660 liters of fuel in a land that is desolate and, in some ways, inhospitable. I had thought about and prepared for this adventure months in advance, but then chose each stage day by day.

At first, I rode around the island counterclockwise, losing myself in the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. Then I explored the central part of the island. Finally, I sought out and rode all the roads I still hadn’t covered—so that I could truly say I had traveled the entire island.

A stop in the capital, Reykjavik, was a must, as well as visits to smaller, more distinctive villages, where I devoted time to various excursions, museum visits, and many of the activities Iceland has to offer.

I collected countless precious and unforgettable memories. But if I had to choose the moment that left the deepest mark on me, it was when I ventured into the wildest, most remote interior of the island: desolate highlands, mountains, and glaciers, from which many rivers flow toward the sea, crossing the plains. I rode on extremely rough roads and tracks, and there wasn’t a soul around—even for hundreds of kilometers.

To all travelers, I say: don’t be afraid—the hardest part is convincing yourself to leave. But once you’re in the saddle, it’s impossible to regret having set off.

I chose the Multistrada V4 Rally because I was familiar with all the updates Ducati made compared to the previous model. It’s the perfect compromise between riding comfort and performance, with incredible balance both on-road and off-road, allowing me to ride through all the varied and challenging conditions I encountered.
