900 Replica

From TT victory to mass production.

In 1978, Mike Hailwood won the Tourist Trophy and wrote a pivotal chapter in Ducati’s history. The following year saw the launch of the 900 Replica, the first model from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer to be directly derived from a rider’s race bike, transforming a racing success into a production motorcycle.

Developed on the technical foundation of the 900 Super Sport, the bike inherits its chassis and engine architecture. The full fairing echoes the sponsor livery that Hailwood’s bike used in his victory on the Isle of Man, while the 864 cc L-twin engine retains the classic bevel gear timing. The mechanical setup, which includes 40 mm Dell’Orto carburetors and Conti exhausts, is designed to deliver precise handling and a typically sporty power delivery.

In 1981, following Hailwood’s death in a road accident, the bike took on its definitive name, “900 Replica.” Remaining in the lineup until 1984, it represents the direct link between racing experience and Ducati’s production models of that era.
