Pantah Ice

Technical evolution for icy surface.

In 1981, the Ducati Pantah 500 platform was used as the foundation for the development of the “Ice” version, an experimental configuration created for winter racing environments. The transition from the road-going model to the ice-spec variant involved a functional revision of the chassis: while retaining the trellis frame and engine architecture unchanged, the motorcycle was stripped of its aerodynamic fairing and reworked in its rolling components.

The project took shape within the management structure of EFIM, the Italian state-owned holding company that at the time controlled both Ducati and Alfa Romeo. The Pantah Ice was used as both a testing and exhibition vehicle during breaks in the “Alfasud” automotive championship, held on frozen circuits and Alpine lakes, particularly around Cortina.
