The Diavel V4 flaunts a complete and very sophisticated electronics package, with advanced control systems that intervene during the riding phases to enhance performance, precision and safety.
Cornering ABS
Cornering ABS on Diavel V4 exploits data from the Bosch IMU to optimise the braking power at both wheels, also when cornering. Integrated with the Riding Modes, it offers three levels of intervention to adapt to different riding conditions.
Level 1, dedicated to sports riding, only applies ABS at the front, disabling the Cornering function and rear-wheel lift detection, and allowing controlled yaw under braking. Level 2 keeps the Cornering function active with a sportier setting, with no rear lift detection. Level 3 prioritises safety, with Cornering ABS and rear wheel lift detection both enabled.
Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, derived from the Ducati Desmosedici GP18 and already used on the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4, exploits the six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to adapt traction control to the lean angle. The predictive strategy analyses both rear wheel slide and its variation, pre-empting any loss in grip and heightening stability, acceleration and control out of the turn.
The system manages ignition timing and fuel injection, as well as throttle valve operation when a rapid response is not required, delivering smoother engine response. Four intervention levels are available, three for dry conditions and one for wet, to adapt control to the level of grip and riding style.
Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
Diavel V4 adopts Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, which uses data from the Bosch six-axis IMU to identify and carefully control any wheelies. The system intervenes according to wheelie intensity, allowing the rider to make the most of the bike’s acceleration performance while ensuring greater control and safety.
Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
Adjustable according to three levels, Ducati Power Launch (DPL) allows a rider to make lightning starts, accentuating the dragster character of Diavel V4. Once set, the rider need only engage first gear and open the throttle: during the initial launch phase, as the rider modulates clutch release, DPL keeps the V4 Granturismo at a stable engine speed around the optimum rpm for the selected DPL level; in the second phase, once the clutch is fully released, DPL will control the amount of torque delivered to ensure maximum acceleration based on the preset level.
DPL exploits DWC functionality and keeps DTC activated at all times to ensure safety in every situation. The system automatically deactivates once the manoeuvring speed threshold is exceeded or when third gear is engaged. Additionally, an algorithm limits the number of consecutive launches to protect the clutch, with the available launches being restored during normal riding.
DLP can be adjusted according to three levels. Level 1 favours high-performance starts, while level 3 is the ‘safe and stable’ option. The new dash has a dedicated DPL feature, which displays the times recorded over the 0–100 km/h and 0–200 km/h intervals at the end of each acceleration run, recording them in the memory and keeping track of the best references.
